City Sound A cappella was first organized in 1988 and has evolved into a closely knit oldies/DOO-WOP a cappella group. A cappella groups have sometimes been referred to as vocal bands because the voices replace musical instruments, and hand clapping and foot tapping have replaced the percussion instruments.
In addition to their public appearances, they have made themselves available for such private functions as weddings, anniversaries, retirement parties and other special occasions.
The group was founded by its leader and primary lead singer Michael Russo who has also performed as a lead singer and bass guitarist in various instrumental and a cappella groups before founding City Sound A cappella.
